Indian American for Burlington Holiday Event Dec. 5th

The Indian American for Burlington (IAB), whose mission is to promote civic, charitable, community and educational activities for the Burlington residents, hosted their first holiday social dinner on December 5th at Chelmsford Elks, Chelmsford, MA. This meeting was well attended by more than hundred supporters including IAB volunteers, Burlington residents, IAB well-wishers and the Burlington Town administration members.

IAB volunteers had colorfully decorated the venue to provide a festive atmosphere.  Volunteers warmly welcomed all IAB members and the guests.  Attendees enjoyed meeting and talking to each other about IAB and its goals.  They continued the conversation over delicious snacks and tasty appetizers until the main program started.

The main program began with opening remarks by Masters of Ceremony, Neil Bhammar, of Burlington High School.  Neil briefed the audience about his role in IAB and requested each person to voice their opinion on how they want to help IAB and what the organization can do for them.

The meeting continued with a speech from the Executive Committee member, Dinesh Tanna who welcomed the guests and program sponsors.    President of IAB, Ram Voruganti, spoke about IAB and several committees (Membership, Fundraising, Town Administration Liaison, School Liaison, public relations and Charitable events) and requested attendees to join these committees.  Ram, then introduced the special guests for the evening - Mike Runyan (Chairman, Board of Selectmen) and John Petrin (Town Administrator for the Town of Burlington.).  Both town representatives’ speeches highlighted their excitement to have the opportunity to meet as many Burlington residents of Indian origin during the event and knowing that they now have a liaison to work with the Indian community in Burlington.  John Petrin in his speech announced that Burlington Town hired an Indian American who will be joining the Burlington Police Department soon.

The speeches were followed by delicious dinner catered by “Chettinad Indian Grill” and the Bollywood dancing to the fabulous music from DJ Ashay Medhani of Burlington High School.    Everybody who attended the program want to come again next year.
