Celestial Minds training center run by United States Chess Federation's 'Expert'  rated  player Kavyashree Mallanna has nurtured young  players for many years in the New England region. Celestial Minds efforts in organizing Chess events, training and promoting the game amongst all ages has played a significant role in making Chess more popular in New England.

Celestial Minds students have  once again proved that  a novice player can have a podium finish with consistent learning, plenty of practice and good guidance.  Students of Kavyashree Mallanna and staff  have won individual championships and team events in 2015 here, in New England.

"It is easier to accept players who have previous knowledge and train them to become a Champion,  but that is not our only " Goal'. Our mission is to make learning Chess, a fun activity while also nurturing the competitive spirit. We enjoy teaching student of any age or any entry level. We like to introduce children to tournaments and inculcate the match temperament in them. We educate  them systematically with the basics of the game and our sincere endeavor is to make the game engrossing as well as exciting. This also increases the appeal of the game for the older generation to seriously pursue chess, as a hobby. We hope to make Chess a house hold game" says Kavyashree Mallanna, founder and director of Celestial Minds and a World Chess Federation ( FIDE) International Organizer.

"2015  has been very special and memorable for Celestial Minds. We have many players endowed with different styles of the game , making it to Prize section and we have new students taking part in USCF Chess tournaments. One important challenge for a new player is to overcome the fear of underperforming or not doing well in a match. We prepare them by arranging friendly game sessions that gives them the much needed practice necessary while competing in a rated match and making them mentally strong. Improving the game is more important than sulking after  a loss or celebrating a  win.  This trait is critical for Chess players since Chess tournaments format is Swiss League and there is no Knockout rule. Each and every player must complete all the rounds in a competition with consistent performance" explained Kavyashree .

Free Practice sessions and Kavyashree Mallanna Sports Outreach Programs:

Kavya Mallanna arranged free practice sessions and multiple free puzzles solving sessions that was open to all Chess hobbyists. These kind of interactive sessions engages the players to collectively work on a  Chess puzzle or a position in front of them, that aids in improving their tactical and logical skills. Celestial Minds will host more of these kind of group sessions to promote the game and provide players a common place to meet for Chess practice.

Earlier this spring, Kavyashree Mallanna worked hard to get Indian Grandmaster and world junior Chess champion Tejas Bakre to Boston and arranged a Simultaneous Chess display. It was a unique experience for the young players to challenge a Chess Grandmaster and the experience motivated many upcoming talents.  " Kavyashree Mallanna Sports Outreach Program"  has arranged free Chess camps for specially abled girls in India and is working with Ugandan based Chess school to assist the players with Chess materials. This has also helped raise sponsorship for physically challenged player Samarth.J.Rao suffering from 80% cerebral palsy who represented India at the World Championship and brought home a bronze medal.
