NRI appointed for a Key US post.

Ajay Kuntumukkala, a well-known advocate on South Asian issues, has been appointed to the Bush Administration. Ajay joins as special assistant to Under Secretary Kenneth Juster in the Bureau of Industry and Security, Department of Commerce, efffective September 2.

Ajay has earlier worked as an associate in the Washington office of Hogan & Hartson L.L.P and a member of the firm's International Trade Group.

Ajay's parents Lalitha and Venkateshwara Rao Kuntamukkala, have migrated from Andhra Pradesh, India and have been living in Boston for the last 20 years. Ajay is a graduate of the Georgetown University Law Centre, where he was a member of the law school's International Journal, Law and Policy in International Business. He also went to Boston University to do his bachelor's degree in Political Science.

Ajay is married to Lavanya and the couple have a daughter who is eight months old.
