Indo-American Solidarity Day

All organizations in New England have come together to organize an Indo-American Solidarity Day on Sept 15, 2002 at the Worcester Centrum in Worcester, MA. The goal of this event is three-fold:

  • to bring people of Indian origin in the New England area together to honor the victims of the September 11th attack. They will be raising money to donate to the Scholarship fund that has been created by Bob Dole and Bill Clinton to support the educational needs of the children of the victims.
  • to show our adopted land, America that has given us so much, that we like our American brothers and sisters care for and support the President and the country.
  • to show that we are a strong and united force and will not tolerate racial profiling or injustice of any kind

There is no intention here to form a new organization. Everyone hopes to develop a model for all people of Indian origin to come together and work together as and when a need arises. Invariably these events are one-time events, and when the event happens, all must be prepared to act in a united manner quickly and efficiently.

If you would like to help with the organization of this event, please come to the organizational meetings. The meetings are held first Tuesday of every month. The next meeting is on March 5, 2002 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. It will be held at the Weston Public Library, 87 School Street Weston, MA 02493.
