Ekal Youth Leaders - NE, a group of children from New England  who have come together to support the cause of education of children in remote rural villages of India, have hit upon a unique party idea. Called Ekal - Change for Change, the event brings together the Ekal Youth Leaders who planning to gather at Tufts University on Sept 12 at 10:00 am in the morning to count the change they have worked to collect from family and friends and have fun. Seven year old Soham Chauhan Sudhakaran and 10 year old Sriganesh Srinivasan are excited to participate in it.

Anu Upneja who is leads the Ekal Youth Leaders group was delighted to see this effort unfold. “It is a simple idea and it is something the young children felt competent and happy to do” says Upneja. “The Ekal Youth Leaders group is a very grassroots group and the ideas spring from the children themselves. We have a stellar group of kids of all ages who have come with wonderful suggestions.”

Soham Chauhan Sudhakaran was so excited to do this that he asked him mom to create a little flier which he has been sharing with all his friends and family. “Soham always has ideas and is eager to share them at our Youth Leaders meeting” says Parveen Minocha, secretary of Ekal Vidyalaya who has been key to spurring these activities.

Sriganesh Srinivasan, a 10 year old was in India when this idea emerged. When he returned he was so excited that he made a flier that he even shared with the town hall in Billerica, his home. The towns folk were so impressed with his enthusiasm that the offered him a spot at the town fair to be held on August 31.
