IMANE Holds Free Health Screening At IAGB India Day Celebrations

Indian Medical Association of New England (IMANE) held a 'Free Health Screening' Booth at India's 69th Independence Day Celebrations  on Sunday, August 16, 2015, at the DCR Hatch Memorial Shell in Boston.

India Association of Greater Boston (IAGB) hosted this annual event in collaboration with its affiliate Saheli, a support group for South Asian women. The theme of India Day this year was 'Tyauhaaron ka  Desh' or 'Country of Festivals'. The main program featured dances and songs reflecting the various festivals celebrated in India. Food will be available for purchase and, as usual, vendors will have an array of products for sale, including arts and crafts, and services.

"Free Health Screenings provided by our organization included Blood Pressure, Height, Weight, Blood Sugar, Vision & Depression Screenings as a service to the community. Our physicians were also available to answer any health related questions that people had," said Dr. Seema Arora, President of IMANE.

"The event was attended by thousands of people and a large number of them visited our booth for health screenings.I would like to thank my committee, IMANE members, all volunteers & specially our community service committee co chairs Dr. Subha Thiagarajan and Dr. Smita Patel for making this mission to serve the community successful! "
