Do you have a story to share about your experience in the USA?

This is the question, writer Sunayna Pal is asking the South Asian population based in the USA. Determined and progressing, she is writing a book. Find out more in the details below.

Sunayna Pal came to USA with her husband in the fall of 2014. When she spoke to her friends back in India, she realized that they knew very little about life in USA. There were so many illusions and incorrect notions about the American people and their life. This realization has resulted into a book of 51 stories from people who are of  south Asian origin and are in USA or were here and have a story to share. She wants to know what brought them to this lovely land of USA and have kept them here. What are their thoughts and experiences? What were their expectations and how different is the reality and many more questions. She is writing a story for all who are contacting her. All she expects them to do is to let her interview them.

She has finished interviewing a few people and there are some stories that are so funny that Sunayna had a hard time laughing and writing it. One of the stories include Asha from MA, who accidentally called 911 while calling home in India (ISD code 91) and hanged up only to find a police officer peeping into her room and asking if she was okay. Although, surprised and embarrassed, she derived immense strength from the feeling of security, knowing that she could get help in a few minutes. Hers is one of the story in the book.

There is one story of Prannoy who feels that she has become more religious and punctual after coming to USA. You will have to wait till december 2016 for the official release though. Do you want to be a part of this book that she hopes will become a series? Write to her about your story at 51storiesofus@gmail.com.

Sunayna Pal, born and brought up in Mumbai, shifted to USA after her marriage. She received PG degrees from XLRI and Annamalai University and worked in the Corporate World for five odd years but quit it in 2009 and embarked on her heart's pursuits. She started “Art with Sunayna” (artwithsunayna.wordpress.com) to teach and sell art for NGOs. She is also a certified handwriting analyst (sos4graphology.com) who helps everyone understand themselves better by using a mix of graphotherapy, healing and affirmations. In midst of all this and being a home maker, gardener and photographer, she also finds the time to write. She loves to write from her daily life experiences. This book is one such endeavor.
