Problem #1
The angle of elevation of a hot air balloon, climbing vertically, changes from 25 degrees at 10:00 am to 60 degrees at 10:02 am. The point of observation of the angle of elevation is situated 300 meters away from the take off point. What is the upward speed, assumed constant, of the balloon? Give the answer in meters per second and round to two decimal places.


Problem #2
A triangle has a perimeter of 50. If 2 of its sides are equal and the third side is 5 more than the equal sides, what is the length of the third side?

Problem #1
An egg salesman was asked how many eggs he had sold that day. He replied, "My first customer said, 'I'll buy half your eggs and half an egg more.' My second and third said the same thing. When I had filled all three orders I was sold out and I had not had to break a single egg all day."

Solution:
7eggs.

Problem #2
A brick balances evenly with three quarters of a pound and three quarters of a brick. What does the whole brick weigh?

Solution:
3 lbs.
