Miss India New England-2014 crown and title holders participated in three day long national pageant from December 12th to 14th at Royal Albert’s Palace hotel in New Jersey. Pranathy Gangaraju from Atlanta Georgia became winner of Miss India USA-2014 who got presented the crown by Monica Gill from Massachusetts who is reigning ‘Miss India Worldwide’-2014 (and 2013 winner of Miss India USA and Miss India New England). A big accomplishment for New England team with contestants from Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island was to bring the crown for ‘Mrs India USA’-2014. Namita Dodwadkar became first ever Mrs India USA. Her speech on stage included the message for married women about dreams and ambitions of a girl which can stay alive even after marriage. During on-stage question round- she mentioned that she would like to work for empowerment of women if she wins the crown. Sheetal Kelkar representing New Hampshire became first runner up after answering question on how to balance different preferences of coffee and tea in day-to-day life by a wife and husband. A very unconventional question for pageants indeed but she attempted in a calm manner before she came up with an honest answer.

Amritha Mangalat from New Hampshire, Mounica Donepudi and Sharanya Ramesh from Massachusetts were representing 'Miss' category from New England at nationals. All New England delegates this year delivered remarkable performances during talent night and the main show. Amritha Mangalat- Miss India New England-2014 won the title ‘Miss Talented’ among 23 contestants from all over the country. Harika Talluri stood 2nd runner up in Teen category. She mentioned on stage that her favorite place in the world is India because of its colors of language and culture.

The most mesmerizing talent in ‘Teen’ category was by Akila Narayanan from Shrewsbury MA who got the title ‘Miss Popularity’.

New England team was lead by Ruchika Arora who was recognized as ‘State Director of the year-2014’ by Chairman and Executive Director Dr Dharmatma Saran and Mrs Neelam Saran of Miss India USA (India Festival Commitee).
