Introducing The Wholistic Health Alliance

Pratibha Shah, MD (Ay.), MPH
12/17/2014

Literally speaking, the word holistic means ‘characterized by comprehension of the parts of something as intimately interconnected and explicable only by reference to the whole’.

This is the fundamental tenet of every holistic health modality. And this is what true health is all about – addressing the mind, body, spirit trinity as a WHOLE, while pursuing wellness and/or therapeutic goals.

In a world where consumers are growing increasingly dissatisfied with the pill and drug culture, holistic practices are once again gaining attention. In US alone, about 38% of adults aged 18 and above, used some form of Complimentary and Alternate therapy, according to a survey conducted by the National Institute of Health in 2007. And the number keeps going up every year.

Despite the increasing interest in holistic health alternative, there is still not enough centralized information or resource pools for the consumers. The Wholistic Health Alliance has been founded in an effort to fill this gap, and also to build awareness in the community regarding holistic and natural ways of living.

Here is introducing the Wholistic Health Alliance to you all:

The Wholistic Health Alliance (WHA) has been founded by Dr. Pratibha Shah, a leading Ayurvedic expert in the New England area, and a passionate proponent of holistic health and wellness. In early 2013, while having conversations with some colleagues, Shah sensed a need for closer conversation and collaboration among holistic practitioners. She had also been hearing from her clients about the challenges they faced in trying to find a specific holistic practitioner/modality of their choice.

So it was with the vision of bringing holistic practitioners together, working in greater synergy with the community to create healthier communities, that the Wholistic Health Alliance was conceived.

The stated Vision of WHA is: “Educate, Engage and Empower our communities to be healthier”

Shah is working with a dedicated team of likeminded and equally passionate holistic practitioners – Kavita Chhibber (a well known journalist, and consultant/instructor in energy medicine), Sonal Khakhar (an entrepreneurial nutritionist) and Jhuma Biswas (a nationally certified Homeopath), to bring this Vision to fruition.

As part of its goal to educate the community, WHA has been holding free educational talks two to three times in a month, at different venues. We are calling out to the community to contact us either on our website - http://wholistichealthalliance.org/ or our Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/WholisticHealthAlliance, and let us know if you would like one of our holistic experts to come and give a health related informative talk in your area.

In furtherance of our Vision, we are proud to announce our ‘Wholistic Health Alliance presents’ series. We will share with our readers, informative and helpful articles on common health issues, as approached through a specific holistic modality. Please message or email us if you would like to know solutions for a particular ailment and we will do our best to bring our experts’ knowledge to you.

We are excited to start this initiative with Lokvani, our very own community emagazine. WHA is thankful to Anil and Ranjani Saigal for inviting us to run this series with them.

Hoping to bring health and harmony into the lives of our readers, through this series!!
