Braving strong winds and a constant downpour, folks thronged to National Heritage Museum in Lexington, MA on Sunday, June 22, as Aalok and Mystique International jointly presented Global Rhythms 2003--a fun filled afternoon that featured cultural diversity through live music by Natraj, a Fashion Show and scintillating dances from around the world. This event was a fundraiser for the Historical Society of Lexington.

On display outside in the foyer were exquisite Artifacts from India courtesy of Mystique International and Fashion Wear from Aalok, the popular boutique located in Lexington. Several visitors, intrigued and enticed by the beautiful displays were seen making notes on how to acquire them.

The show was kicked off with an audio-visual film on the handicrafts of India. In her welcome address, Anita Mathur of Mystique thanked the audience for their support and enthusiasm for the event and talked about promoting the art of India and other regions in the USA.

A cultural program comprising music by the Natraj duo, Phil Scarf and Jerry leake, Kuchipudi by the students of Triveni School of dance, a belly dance, a Latin Funk dance, a Michael Jackson impersonation and a scintillating Fashion show put together by Aalok with models from Casablanca, kept the audience enthralled for about two hours. Food was served following the program.

Both Ms. Karna and Ms. Mathur, when contacted, expressed a desire to give back to the community by hosting such shows, designed to entertain, educate and enlighten patrons.

They also said that the big turn out and the positive feedback offers them tremendous encouragement and that they intend to present more cultural programs in the near future.
