IAGB will celebrate India's 68th Independence Day (India Day) at the Hatch Shell in Boston, MA on August 17, 2014 from 4 pm to 8 pm.

Established in 1962, India Association of Greater Boston (IAGB) is the oldest Indian-American organization in the Greater Boston. Its mission is to preserve and foster Indian culture, and to strengthen Indo-American friendship.

IAGB is synonymous with Hatch Shell. One of the major events that IAGB organizes is the Indian Independence Day.  The Independence Day has historically been organized at the Hatch Shell.  Other than US 4th July celebrations and Earth Day, the India's Independence day draws, by Hatch Shell’s own estimates, more than 10,000 visitors.

However, since the tragic Boston Marathon bombings in 2013 the cost of celebrating India Independence Day at Hatch Shell has increased more than doubled due to new, more stringent security requirements. As a nonprofit organization, IAGB could not afford this cost and as a result it did not hold the event at the Hatch Shell in 2013. It is the earnest desire of Indians in Boston to continue to celebrate Indian Independence Day at the Hatch Shell.

As the current Executive Committee is committed to celebrating the event at the Hatch Shell on August 17, 2014, we seek your financial support in form of donations. Please consider a donation of $10, $20, $50, $100, $250 or $1000 or any amount that you are comfortable with. People who donate $50 or more will automatically be eligible to win at least one round-trip New York - India ticket on Air India.
