Dwarakamai Carnatic Concert by Anand Subramony
Anand Subramony:
Growing up in Trivandrum, Kerala, Anand was exposed to music from a very early age. However, Anand took to formal training only during a later part of his career from Sri. Ashok Subramaniam in Bay area CA. After moving to the East Coast, Anand has been continuing to learn from Sri. Sankaran Menon, NJ. Anand’s style of rendition is rich in bhakti and melody with a voice that resonates devotion. Anand has given performances at various festivals including Sunnyvale Hindu temple, Sanatana Hindu Temple Santa Clara, and locations in NJ. He has also performed at the Lakshmi Temple Ashland, and in Lexington (for Youth Entrepreneurship & Sustainability). Anand holds a Ph.D. from Purdue University and lives and works in the Boston area.
K.V.S. Vinay:
Sri. K.V.S Vinay hails from a musical family. He is the grandson of Sangeetha Kalanidhi late T.K. Jayarama Iyer, violinist and father of orchestration of Carnatic music. Born and raised in Delhi, Vinay had his initial training from Smt. A. Vanaja and subsequently trained under late Sri V. Janakiraman and his uncle Sri Kovai B. Dakshinamurthy. A concert performer for over two decades, Vinay has had the opportunity to accompany several leading Carnatic musicians. He has featured on national radio and TV in India and has won a number of awards including an Indian government scholarship for training in music. Vinay has performed in leading Carnatic music Sabhas in Delhi, Chennai and the United States. Vinay has a PhD in Economics and currently lives and works in the Boston area.
Mahalingam Santhanakrishnan:
Sri. Mahalingam Santhanakrishnan (Mali) is a disciple of Sri. P. Srinivasa Iyer of Madras. He took advanced lessons from Padmashri Palghat R. Raghu, when Sri. Raghu visited the US. Mali has accompanied many leading local artists and many renowned senior visiting artists from India such as Sri. T.R. Subramanyam, Smt. R. Vedavalli, Sri. V. Subrahmanyam, Sri. R. Prasanna, Shri R.K.Srikantan, Sri Kunnakudi Balamuralikrishna, Carnatica Brothers ,Sashikiran and Ganesh, Smt. Mala Chandrasekar, Sri Shashank, Smt. Vijayalakshmi Subramanian and others. He has also performed in fusion concerts, notably with Sri. Sandip Burman. Mali works and teaches Mridangam in the Boston area.
