Asian American Women In Leadership
ASPIRE (Asian Sisters Participating In Reaching Excellence) will host our annual 'Asian American Women In Leadership' (AAWIL) Conference to celebrate and promote leadership among Asian American girls and women on April 28th, 2007 at Harvard University - Kennedy School of Government in Cambridge. This year's theme is 'Meaningful Leadership: Shaping Our World.' Together, we will explore various ways to build leadership while exercising our identities and skills to give back to our communities.
Our keynote speakers this year will be:
1) Helen Zia, an award-winning journalist and scholar who has covered Asian American communities and social and political movements for decades. She is the author of Asian American Dreams: The Emergence of an American People, a finalist for the prestigious Kiriyama Pacific Rim Book Prize.
2) Jeannie Park, the executive editor of People Magazine, one of the most read magazines in the world. She is also the founding president of the Asian American Journalists Association - New York chapter, which is now the largest in the country, and she has been honored by numerous organizations for her work in the area of diversity. She is a founding member of A3, Time Inc. year-old Asian American employee affinity group.
