Dhanya Lakshmi Puja
NEHTI Committee on Youth, Cultural and Educational Program and Sri Lakshmi Temple operations extends an open invitation to all devotees to come, participate and enjoy a summer afternoon with fellow devotees in a grand mela. Dhanya Lakshmi Ki Puja Aur Daan Mela And Let us all pray to Sri Dhanya Lakshmi during the Andaal (a great devotee of Lord Vishnu) Utsavam. Please join us on Sunday, 23rd July 2006 And enjoy the mela with Chat Phat Bhutta (Grilled fresh corn lazed with spices and lemon) In the front yard of the temple from 1 PM to 4 PM (Subject to Weather condition) Let us pray to Sri Dhanya Lakshmi, one of eight forms of Sri Lakshmi, (Astalakshmi: Adi Lakshmi, Dhanya Lakshmi, Dhairya Lakshmi, Gaja Lakshmi, Santana Lakshmi, Vijaya Lakshmi, Vidhya Lakshmi and Dhana Lakshmi). Mother Lakshmi is also known as Rama, meaning one who showers happiness to the mankind. On this day we will pray to Dhanya Lakshmi. The word Dhanya in Sanskrit means grains. This includes all kind of purified food containing all essential vitamins, minerals, protein, calcium, carbohydrate and so on. With the grace of mother Dhanya Lakshmi one gets all essential nutrients in grains, fruits, vegetables and other foods. On this day our simple prayer will be to offer grains to Sri Mahalakshmi. From ancient days it is well known that Rice is the most widely used staple food and the great gift to mankind is often the gift of Food (Annadanam, sharing of food with fellow human beings). It is traditional to offer money to Goddess Mahalakshmi, the giver of all wealth along with the rice. It is suggested that devotees who wish participate in the prayer to Sri Dhanya Lakshmi bring bags of rice and offer that with some money as a token of their good will. Please come and join us in this prayer and relish the Chat Phat Bhutta (Grilled fresh Corn on the web lazed with spices and lemon), to be provided at no cost to the devotees (courtesy of YCEP and temple operations).
