Survival Strategies In The RFID Jungle
Survival strategies in the RFID jungle The past couple of years has seen intense hype and hope in the software and technology community around Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). Wal-Mart's edict in 2003 put the spotlight on this technology and spawned dozens of companies eager to stake a claim. With the January 2005 Wal-Mart deadline past, the average company has spent less than expected to meet the minimum mandated requirements. How have RFID companies survived the past years? What have we learned from this experience? Are organizations, suppliers and other software players still seeing any of the benefits that RFID promised? Do business opportunities still exist for a startup in the RFID space? Is retail the only focus for RFID? What are the business models that allowed companies to survive? We have a terrific panel that will draw from their experience to address these and other questions. This promises to be a great evening on a very popular topic, so sign up early. Please note the change in date from our normal monthly meeting. Speakers · Michael Liard, AIDC & RFID Practice Director, Venture Development Corporation.
