Art of Living Worshop on Sudarshan Kriya Yoga (SKY)
A breathing technique called Sud!arshan Kriya Yoga (SKY) is gaining recognition in the medical community, due to recent publications and presentations by Dr. Richard Brown, Associate Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Columbia University and author of Stop Depression Now and The Rhodiola Revolution. Dr. Brown will give a talk at MIT discussing stress – a root cause of anxiety, depression, suicide, accidents and violence – and the neurophysiological benefits of SKY. Dr. Brown presented his findings of SKY’s positive impact at the American Psychiatric Association meeting in New York this May.

Dr. Brown was so inspired by the results of SKY, taught by th!e Art of Living Foundation, that he decided to become a volunteer teacher himself. This easy to learn technique, practiced at home is helping his patients as well as medical personnel who deal with intense stress and negative emotions in their work. He comments, “I don’t think the breathing can heal everything, just like I don’t think medicine can heal everything, but so many people, when they learn this technique, get a vision of who they really are and what they need to do to have a harmonious, balanced life.”

The Art of Living Workshop teaches Sudarshan Kriya Yoga (SKY), skills for dealing effectively with negative emotions, and practical wisdom for living in a stressful world. Many workshop graduates report improvement in energy, awareness, mental focus, the ability to relax and remain calm, and a better perspective on “what really matters.”

This special Art of Living Workshop will be taught by psychiatrist Dr. Richard Brown. The course is open to the general public but especially suited to physicians, psychiatrists, counselors, nurses, and other health care providers who are exposed to intense negative emotions, human suffering, and work stress.
