Taka Dhimi Dance and Music Festival of India / POSTPONED
The festival includes demonstrations by scholars of Indian music and percussion, performances by various Indian folk-dance groups from around the state, and the premiere of several new works by Leela Dance Theater.
The festival starts with the demonstration segment at 4 p.m. and continues on with the performance segment which starts after 6 p.m. and goes on till 9 p.m. Indian food will be available during intermission.
The gala performance will conclude with the premiere of 'Pancha Tatva - Cosmic Elements', where two distinct styles of Indian dance (Kathak and Bharata Natyam) are fused with live western percussion. Choreography is by Anu R Sharma and Rachna Agrawal, with percussion by Geoffrey Brown.
