How India's National Rural Employment Guarantee Act is Shaping Social Change by Ajay Kumar
Ajay Kumar has decades of experience in land struggle and in-depth knowledge of laws and policies that the landless can use to obtain land rights. His work helps strengthen processes which ensure that democracy reaches the last mile...be that in the interior forests, hilltop villages, undocumented villages, internally-displaced peoples' settlements etc and that people living in these areas assert their rights and gain their entitlements. He has worked on the use of RTI, implementation of the Forest Rights Act, Panchayat and the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. Ajay Kumar currently serves as the Secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Agricultural Workers Union, (APVVU). He is a sharp, engaging, and dynamic speaker with a cross-disciplinary background and experience, who can help put the work in the context of development and democracy. Ajay Kumar has been associated with AID since 2003 in both solidarity and project-based collaborations. Please join us on July 1st to hear from Ajay Kumar, the event is free and open to public.
